What's Happening with Seniors Benefits

1. The Associated Press reports that the President conceded his Obamacare Bill hit a “buzz saw.”

The "buzz saw" was the strong opposition of the American people to rationing, encouragement of euthanasia, $500 Billion cuts in Medicare, federal funding of abortion on demand, increased taxes, and a decrease in the quality of health care.

After the Massachusetts Senate election, the President’s apologists tried to claim the outcome was not related to the Obamacare Bill. But such absurd contentions are contradicted by easily available information.

In an online article for National Review, Charles Krauthammer wrote:

"When Obama campaigned in Boston on January 17 for Obamacare supporter Martha Coakley, not once did he mention the health-care bill…

"Scott Brown won by running against Obama…He won by brilliantly nationalizing the race, running hard against the Obama agenda, most notably Obamacare. Killing it was his No. 1 campaign promise.”

And an article in the Washington Post cited a poll by the Kaiser Foundation and Harvard University's School of Public Health, which found:

"Sizable majorities of Brown voters see the Democrats' plan, if passed, as making things worse for their families, the country, and the state of Massachusetts."

Some Democrats in Congress seemed to have gotten that message. But undiluted Obamacare is still the fervent goal of liberals in the House and Senate.

2. Democratic leaders in Congress have vowed to pass Obamacare no matter what the American people say.

The Associated Press reported that, when Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked if, in light of the many political and policy problems with the Obamacare Bill, it might not be passed, she responded, "I don't see that as a possibility."

And Pelosi told Reuters, “We will make every effort to have a health care bill.”

In his State of the Union speech, the President encouraged members of his own party not be afraid of passing Obamacare.

“So, as temperatures cool, I want everyone to take another look at the plan we've proposed…Don't walk away from reform. Not now. Not when we are so close…Let's get it done…To Democrats, I would remind you that we still have the largest majority in decades, and the people expect us to solve problems, not run for the hills,” he said.

Dick Morris reported on the Democratic plan to pass Obamacare. The AP verified that the Democrats have coalesced on a health care strategy.

Under the plan, the Senate bill would be passed by the House without amendments. Then, Democratic Senators would sign a pledge to pass separate legislation to accede to various liberal demands. This legislation would be passed under “reconciliation” procedures in which no filibuster would be permitted in the Senate. Thus, the liberal revisions to the Senate version of Obamacare could be passed with only 50 votes (Vice President Joe Biden breaking a tie), rather than 60 votes.

Already, several moderate Democrats, who voted for Obamacare when 60 votes were needed, have said they will vote against it when just 50 votes are needed to pass it. These Democrats could then tell their constituents they opposed the legislation.

3. The 60 Plus Association has produced an outstanding 1 minute television commercial against Obamacare, which features Dr. C. Everett Koop, the U.S. Surgeon General from 1981 to 1989.

The TV ad says, “Tell Congress to start over and get health care right.”
