What's happening with Seniors Benefits
Liberals continue to suppress public debate on Obamacare in both the Senate and House in renewed hope that the bill can be passed before additional information about it reaches more of the American people.
Reuters chronicled the efforts of all of the Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee to reject GOP efforts to postpone a vote on the revised bill until the Congressional Budget Office can assess its costs.
This brought an angry response from moderate Republican Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine. "We're talking about trillions of dollars in the final analysis. What is the rush?" she asked.
The rush is that public opinion may be escalating against Obamacare.
The latest Rasmussen Reports, which was completed before the President had his blitz appearances on all the Sunday television talk shows, found that 56% of voters opposed Obamacare, including 44% strongly opposed to it. That's the highest level of opposition yet measured. Only 43% now favor government-run health care, including 24% who strongly favor it.
Earlier this month, the Associated Press-GfK Poll found that people age 65 and up "had the most negative views" about Obamacare. Among seniors, 6 out of 10 disapproved of the legislation being considered in Congress.
In an attempt to try to win back the support of seniors, Vice President Joe Biden spoke at a Leisure World retirement complex in Maryland. "Nobody is going to mess with your benefits. Nobody. All we do is make it better for people on Medicare," he said.
But many seniors already know that Obamacare slashes spending for Medicare by more than $500 billion, rations treatments for everyone, encourages euthanasia for the elderly, and provides federal funding of elective abortions. It is the most anti-senior bill ever introduced in Congress.
Even more than Biden's misinformation was the disingenuous attempt at populism by Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid. "We have to show the American people that we can overcome the power of the insurance industry and the pharmaceutical industry. That's what it's all about," he said.
But the truth is completely the opposite. The big drug companies have joined with the liberals to spend at least $150 million in TV ads to promote Obamacare.
With the liberals spreading such blatantly false information, it is imperative that they act quickly before their deception is more widely discovered.
Bloomberg reports that White House Budget Director Peter Orszag has predicted that Congress will pass Obamacare in "six weeks or so, maybe sooner."
